Dungeon Alive. Can a dead project ever live again?

I spent years working on a massive chose your own adventure game called Dungeon Alive. Years… Over 400 illustrations… And while it did earn a prize at the 88888, it will remain unfinished. As a parent and an artist it can be hard to square the unpaid work on both sides. I’m in my forties, what am I doing spending my time on pencil drawings of talking squirrels and haunted houses? I don’t always know. But, I am proud of Dungeon Alive and I learned from it. I learned to give myself parameters and limits before a project gets out of hand and away from me. I find myself working on a new project anyway. It seems devoting hours to unpaid creative endeavors is just something I can’t quit and clearly don’t want to. I wonder, though can Dungeon Alive! a fiction taking place in a different Seattle after reality has fallen away be resurrected? I am inspired by innovative RPGs like Troika that maybe the ideas locked in this unfinished project could be reconfigured and live again. I hope so.
